The
Premium Championship Course

Bintan Lagoon’s Ian Baker-Finch Woodlands course
was re-opened on December 2008, after more than
8 months for re-turfing of fairways on the 1st
nine holes. But perhaps the course favoured by
most golfers is its Par 72 Sea View course designed
by Jack Nicklaus, with five different tee locations
to suit golfers of all abilities, its generous
views of the ocean are undoubtedly the main attraction
.
The still rustic and uncluttered landscape affords
excellent and claming views of the coast. So if
you’re having a bad day at golf, you can take
in the view. This course having been recently
upgraded to a Premium Championship course, was
crafted by golf great Jack Nicklaus, and there
are indeed many cues to the hand Nicklaus had
in the course's inception.

Signature 'Golden Bear' design work is seen
in the course's majestic bunkering and in the
strategic utilisation of the surrounding landscape.
Like Baker-Finch, Nicklaus pays attention to ensuring
a course fits in with its setting, Jack adds,
"the natural terrain, the vegetation and
the scenery really shape the natural character
of the course I've designed here". If you
want proof, you'll just have to visit. The Sea
View course highlights lie before golfers at both
the 12th & 13th holes. The 12th offers panoramic
ocean views, while the 13th provides a rather
unique challenge with a stream that cuts right
through the middle of the green.

When
Given its proximity to Singapore and Malaysia
(approximately 45 minutes from Singapore’s Tanah
Merah ferry terminal), Bintan Lagoon is easily
accessible for a round of golf or a short weekend
getaway, however it is best to avoid travel during
the monsoon season occurring at the tail end of
each year as the seas can get quite choppy and
you may miss out on getting that tan.
How
There are regular ferries operated by Bintan Resort
Ferries (BRF) that depart from Singapore’s Tanah
Merah Ferry Terminal (TMFT) to Bintan and back.
You can check the schedules and book online via
their website - www.brf.com.sg or secure your
golfing/vacation packages and ferry slots via
Bintan Lagoon’s online reservation portal - http://www.bintanlagoon.com/blr/packages/index.asp
